What 'business casual' actually means at the door — what's automatic, what's a judgment call, and how to never have the conversation at all.

"Business casual" on a nightclub door is the most misunderstood three syllables in Atlantic City. At Club Paradise it's a real standard — it's part of what keeps the room the way the room is — but it's simpler than people make it. Here's the translation.

The automatic yes

Fitted jeans or pants, clean shoes, a collared shirt or a sharp plain tee. A blazer turns every head for the right reasons. Dresses, heels, boots — all standard. The rule of thumb is easy: dress like you're going somewhere that took your night seriously, because you are.

The judgment calls

Sneakers: clean, deliberate, yes — beat gym shoes, no. Hats: leave the fitted cap in the car. Shorts, flip-flops, athletic wear: that's a boardwalk afternoon, not a 4AM room. When in doubt, dress one notch up — nobody ever got turned away for looking too good.

Why the standard at all? Because a room full of people who dressed for the night acts like it. It's the same reason the parking is free, the bar is full, and the staff knows the regulars: Club Paradise runs on mutual respect, and the dress code is just the visible part.
